AED Loaner Program
To help aid our community in the treatment and survival of sudden cardiac arrest victims. This program allows the general public to check out an automated external defibrillator (AED) for group events within the Albany Fire Department service area.
Bike Helmets
Low-Income Assistance
Bike helmets are available for low-income residents needing one. Come get fitted with the correct size helmet for you.
Car Seat Inspections
AFD offers free car seat inspections by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.
Chimney Brushes
Chimney brushes are available to check out to clean creosote buildup in your chimney to prevent a flu fire. Annual cleaning is recommended.
Community Paramedic
This program connects at-risk populations to appropriate resources, including patients who frequently use emergency services.
Fire Escape Ladders
Low-Income Assistance
Ladders are needed if people sleep on the second story of a residence. AFD is able to provide these lifesaving devices to low-income residents,
Fire Extinguishers
A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property by putting out a small fire or containing it until the fire department arrives.
Life Jackets
Keep everyone, especially kids, afloat and safe around water. Anyone can borrow a life jacket from any of the five Albany Fire Stations.

Keep medications, matches, and lighters out of children’s hands.
Key Boxes
Provide secure access to the fire department in case of emergency, speeding entry and eliminating property damage caused by forcible entry.

If emergency medical services are needed, we can open the secured box to retrieve a key and get inside without having to break down a door or window to rescue you.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Low-Income Assistance
Smoke detectors are needed in each room where people sleep, outside each sleeping area, and/or on every level of a residence. Carbon monoxide detectors are needed if you use gas heat, gas appliances, or a wood-burning stove.
Station Tours
AFD will accommodate visits to fire stations for small groups. No minimum number of visitors is required.
